Was eleuthero root previously known as Siberian ginseng?Yes. Eleuthero root has carried the common name of Siberian ginseng in the past. However, a United States law was implemented in 2002 which limits the use of the name"ginseng" to herbs in the genus Panax. Therefore, some companies are now calling the Eleutherococcus senticosus herb by its "standardized common name," eleuthero, as it is listed in the Herbs of Commerce.
