Description
Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium for strong bones and teeth, and new research shows that it also supports breast, colon, and immune system health.
Studies show that most people don’t get enough of this beneficial nutrient, and it’s hard to get enough vitamin D through diet alone unless you eat a lot of fish such as salmon, sardines, mackerel, or herring. This is why many health experts are now recommending an increase to the Recommended Dietary Allowance for vitamin D, suggesting that you get a minimum of 2,000 International Units (IU) each day.
Suggested use: Take one tablet daily with a meal.

Don’t I get enough vitamin D from sunshine?
Most people don’t, especially in northern latitudes from November through February. The National Institutes of Health recommends 5 to 30 minutes of sun between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at least twice a week on the face, arms, legs, or back without sunscreen. But that’s just a rough estimate, since it doesn’t take into account cloud cover, or shade, pollution, and sunscreen use, all of which block the UVB rays from the sun which start the process of vitamin D synthesis in the skin. Because we spend of our time indoors than previous generations, and use more sunscreen where we are out under the sun, almost everybody needs to supplement their diet with vitamin D. The healing rays of natural sunlight (that generate vitamin D in your skin) cannot penetrate glass. So you don’t generate vitamin D when sitting in your car or home.
Don’t I get enough vitamin D from milk?
Milk contains about 100 IU vitamin D per 8-oz glass—clearly not enough to realistically achieve the optimal supplement level of 2,000 IU/day. Cod liver oil does contain high amounts: about 1 ½ tablespoons per day will provide 2,000 IU. But of commonly consumed foods, the highest in vitamin D is oily fish like salmon, which provides about 100 IU vitamin D per oz: again, too little to significantly contribute to a daily total of 2,000 IU.
Why do I need this if I am taking a multivitamin?
Most multivitamins provide 400 IU per day or less of vitamin D. Taking multiple doses in order to reach 2,000 IU vitamin D per day is not recommended because of the risk of overdosing on other vitamins and minerals in the supplement.
What does the product do for me?
Vitamin D3 is required for healthy bone growth and maintenance. Vitamin K2 works together with vitamin D3 to get calcium into bones. Vitamin D3 deficiency or insuffciency is also suspected to contribute to the risk of many aging-related conditions. While optimal amounts of vitamin D3 can be synthesized in the body with sufficient sun exposure, getting that exposure is difficult because of indoor lifestyles, sunshine that is too weak due to latitude (northerly or southernly position in relation to the equator, where the sun shine strongest), pollution, or cloud cover, and the use of sunscreen required to reduce skin cancer risk. Taking supplemental vitamin D is an easy way to ensure that you’re getting the optimal amount, 2000 IU/day, without increasing your risk of skin cancer or skin aging from excessive sun exposure.
How early should someone begin taking this product?
This product is meant for individuals 12 years of age and older.
